7th ATC bids farewell to Aguto, welcomes LaNeve

7th Army Training Command

Brig. Gen. Christopher C. LaNeve took command of the 7th Army Training Command from Brig. Gen. Antonio A. Aguto during a change of command ceremony May 13, 2018 on the parade field at Tower Barracks, Germany.
The ceremony was presided over by Lt. Gen. Christopher G. Cavoli, the commanding general of U.S. Army Europe.
Cavoli is no stranger to 7th ATC having served as the unit’s commanding general from 2014 to 2016. He spoke of the importance the training command plays in building readiness for our nation and her allies.
“Tony’s contributions in this command have been significant. He has taken the approach to training that combines elevating U.S Army training to its highest quality while doing it in a fashion that incorporates all of our allies so that we simultaneously move to a level a of readiness together that has rarely been seen inside our alliance,” Cavoli.
Aguto will go on to serve as the deputy chief of staff, G – 3/5/7 for U.S. Forces Command in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
“Over the last two years we have grown this command and extended our influence throughout the NATO alliance and amongst our partners. Whether building capability in the Ukraine; training Soldiers in Georgia; leading an exercise across multiple countries in Europe; fighting alongside our partners in Hohenfels; developing an NCO academy in Tunisia, Africa; or simply blowing stuff up in Grafenwoehr; 7ATC has been the standard for training in Europe,” Aguto said. “No matter where my travels would lead me, the members of this command were recognized for their professionalism and excellence. Your reputation carries throughout the alliance and there is not a military in Europe that has not asked for our assistance, advice or expertise in training. What a difference a command can make.”
LaNeve, a graduate of University of Arizona and Central Michigan University, previously served as the deputy commanding general (operations) of the 82nd Airborne Division out of Fort Bragg.
“To the Soldiers and the civilians who make up this great command, your awesome reputation reaches far across Europe as well as back to the United States. You look great today and I truly appreciate the opportunity to serve on this team with you all,” LaNeve said. “I look forward to continuing to build our futures together.”
