Duluth National Guard Airmen lend a hand

Story by Airman 1st Class Jovante Johnson

    52nd Fighter Wing

“The Minnesota ANG came to Spangdahlem Air Base fully trained in their craft and prepared to support the 52nd MXS in any way they can,” said Tech. Sgt. James McNeill, 52nd MXS jet engine intermediate maintenance production superintendent. “They really help us get a lot done in a shorter period of time.”
The 52nd MXS serves as the intermediate-level maintenance organization providing maintenance support to the 52nd FW and its tenant units. The squadron is also responsible for the Central Repair Facility, performing maintenance on F110-GE engines in support of multiple F-16 fighter wings and various deployed locations throughout all of Europe.
Members from the Minnesota ANG include three U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeants and a Senior Airman. They will be assisting the 52nd MXS for three months.
“It is pretty amazing that four Airmen can come into a shop and have as big an impact as they do,” said Staff Sgt. William Lacina, 148th FW ANG aerospace propulsion specialist. It doesn’t require many Airmen to come into a shop and help relieve the workload of others. This gives Airmen currently in the shop time to do other projects.
