    FORT LEE, Virginia - Numerous family members, friends and colleagues gathered during a ceremony to celebrate the retirement of the 12th Ordnance Regimental Command Sergeant Major, Command Sgt. Maj. Edward C. Morris

    “I lead from my heart, and my heart is in this audience, my heart is throughout the Army and where I will be for the rest of my life. I will be a Solider for life,” Morris said.

    Morris took the stage with his wife Letitia to celebrate and formally end his 32-year Army career. His journey with the Army took him throughout the world and culminated with his assignment here at U.S. Army Fort Lee.
    During the ceremony, Brig. Gen. David Wilson Chief of Ordnance and Commandant U.S. Army Ordnance School presented Morris with the Legion of Merit, a Certificate of Retirement, a Certificate of Appreciation signed by President Donald J. Trump, and a United States flag as a symbol of his faithful service to a grateful nation.

    His wife Letitia received the Ordnance Corps Keeper of the Flame Award and a Certificate of Appreciation signed by the U.S. Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley.

    Morris entered the U.S. Army in June 1986 and attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Dix, New Jersey, and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. Upon his graduation he was assigned to 3/7th Cavalry Regiment “Garry Owen” Fort Stewart, Georgia as a Track Vehicle Repairmen.
