Continuing Promise 2018 Arrives in Honduras

"The Continuing Promise team is excited to finally start our mission here in Honduras," said Capt. Angel Cruz, the designated Commander, Task Force 48 for the Continuing Promise mission. "Our teams are ready to work and learn with the people of Honduras.

"These visits build stronger relationships between our nations, which improves interoperability and our capacity to respond to natural disasters as a team," added Cruz, who also serves as Commodore, Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 40. "This mission demonstrates our determination to preserve and promote our partnerships in the region."

Approximately 500 people per day, for a total of 18,500, will receive medical and dental treatment. These interactions, including subject matter expert exchanges, during CP-18 focus on helping to build enduring host-nation capacities.

Spearhead is currently off the coast of Honduras and will move on to Guatemala for the next phase of Continuing Promise 2018.

CP-18 is a U.S. Southern Command-sponsored and U.S. Naval Forces Southern/U.S. 4th Fleet-conducted deployment to conduct civil-military operations including humanitarian assistance, training engagements and medical, dental, and veterinary support in an effort to show U.S. support and commitment to Central and South America.
