Service members participated in the annual Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Field meet April 13 aboard Camp Foster.
Teams from each branch competed in the field meet to raise awareness during Sexual Awareness and Prevention month.
“The most important thing is what we represented today,” said Marine Corps Sgt. Rashid Price, a competitor on the Marine team. “Brig. Gen. Rock come out here to remind us what we are here for. It was a great competition, but all in all we knew that we came here for, sexual assault prevention and awareness.”
While raising awareness, the meet also tested the mental and physical limitations of the Marines, sailors, airmen and soldiers through friendly competition. Each branch competed in the following four events: the tire flip, four man relay, tug-of-war, and drunken egg contest.
"This built cohesion and continues readiness,” said Army Lt. Col. Eldred Ramtahal, the commanding officer of 835th Transportation Battalion. “I think it is phenomenal that we do events like this to continue to highlight and bring awareness. We will work to eliminate this, and those who don’t believe that do not know the strength and the willpower of the (Department of Defense). Prevention starts with each of us, and we will work endlessly every day to prevent sexual assault.”
