1st USACAPOC Bids Fairwell to Col. Michael L. Robertson

    FAYETTEVILLE, NC, UNITED STATES

    04.07.2018

Story by Sgt. Juan F. Jimenez

    210th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment

Brig. Gen Richard K. Sele, deputy commanding General of the United States Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command, officiated the event.
“Good morning friends, families and Soldiers of the 1st TB,” said Sele. “It’s great to be here and celebrate a long-standing tradition in the military change of command. As each commander passes through the unit, they leave their prints on it and turn it over to the successor,” he said.
Sele said the Soldiers are the community, the strength and core of a unit.
"It’s often said that less than one percent of the American population shoulders the burden for defending this nation,” said Sele. “But I never viewed this as a burden, but rather an honor and privilege.”
Sele stressed the importance of the civil affairs mission, praised Robertson’s past leadership and welcomed Stieglitz to his new assignment.
Col. Robertson’s tenure has transformed the brigade from one that trained Soldiers for mobilization to a brigade that now plays a critical role in training and coaching Soldiers while deployed to Combat Training Center’s mission rehearsals.
“I want to thank everyone who came out today and everyone who has supported Col. Stieglitz and myself through this transition,” said Robertson. “It’s a bitter sweet feeling leaving the 1st TB, but I am looking forward to the new challenges.”
