ZAGAN, POLAND – Soldiers from Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team (Dagger Brigade), 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas are scheduled to leave Zagan, Poland and relocate to Grafenwoehr, Germany and Hohenfels, Germany March 16, 2018 to March 19, 2018, after spending roughly six months working alongside their Polish allies.

The Dagger Brigade is deploying to Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels to conduct a multinational training exercise, Combined Resolve X, with their NATO allies and partners.

“Our presence, movement and training across Europe demonstrates our commitment to our NATO Allies, and sends a powerful message to potential adversaries of our resolve to preserve security and stability in the region,” said Capt. Orlandon Howard, public affairs officer assigned to 2nd ABCT.

During the duration of the Dagger Brigade's stay in Poland, they participated in multiple military and community events to include live-fire training exercises, combined artillery training, first-aid training, school visits and more.

The Soldiers of Dagger Brigade were also invited to take part in a number of cultural events, allowing them to experience and enjoy the welcoming nature and culture of the Polish people.

“The people of Poland have been very hospitable,” said Capt. Jonathan Hawkins, commander of HHC, 2nd ABCT. “What we have accomplished here has set the stage for future rotational troops, to continue building upon the relations we have built.”

The brigade will continue to maintain a presence in Poland by having 2nd Battalion, 70th Armor Regiment centrally located within the region until the end of their rotation to continue to preserve security and stability.

“Our job here is to routinely move and mass for exercises and training events throughout the European theater,” said Howard. “In doing so, we demonstrate our capability to quickly mobilize and employ the full capabilities of the brigade in response to crisis.”

Combined Resolve X is a multinational training exercise that provides an opportunity to develop greater interoperability with NATO and key partner forces.

2nd ABCT elements participating in the exercise are scheduled to train under the division command of the Polish 12th Mechanized Infantry Division.

Combined Resolve X is scheduled for April 9, 2018 to May 12, 2018 and will host more than 3,700 participants from 13 nations.
