U.S. Marines visit Seiwa Gakuwn Hish School in Sendai, Japan, to experience the local culture of the North Eastern Japan, February 19, 2018.
Marines from Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment were invited to a live-performance put on by the schools karake club. They also played a freandly game of basketball.
“It was a humbling experience” said 1st Sgt. Chad Webb, the Company First Sergeant for Golf Company. “They were great hosts and great ambassadors of their country.”
The Marines and athletes from Seiwa Gauken High School competed up and down the court for 30 minutes. At the end of the game the Marines won with a score of 36 to 32.
“The Marines thoroughly enjoyed themselves.” said 1stSgt Webb a native of Syracuse, New York “I think it was great because it helped break up the monotony of everyday training.”
The hospitality shown by the Seiwa Gakuen High School represents the relationship between the United States and Japan, said Webb.
“The trip today far exceeded by expectations.” Said Webb “It shows our friendship between our two nations.”
