Naval Mobile Construction Battalions in Guam provide expeditionary construction and engineering to include maintenance and operation of expeditionary bases and facilities, tactical sustainment bridging, humanitarian assistance through construction civic action details and civic action teams and theater disaster response capabilities under Commander, Task Force 75 in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operation.
“It is a pleasure to recognize the great accomplishments of NMCB 133, Det. Guam as they complete their Pacific deployment,” said Capt. Jeffrey Kilian, Commander, 13th Naval Construction Regiment. “I am pleased to welcome NMCB 11, Det. Guam back to the Western Pacific, the Oceania Region and Guam for their 2018 deployment.”
NMCB 133, Det. Guam oversaw projects in Palau, the Marshall Islands, and the Federated States of Micronesia while providing support to Commander, Task Force 75; Commander, 7th Fleet; Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet; and Naval Base Guam.
Kilian shared praise to “The Runnin’ Roos” of NMCB 133, Det. Guam about their vast distribution of forces across this massive area of operations and the complexity of projects completed throughout their deployment, especially community outreach projects performed at multiple sites.
“[NMCB 133, Det. Guam’s] performance in construction readiness operations was exceptional and provided necessary direct support to adjacent Navy, Army and Air Force units across the [area of operations],” said Kilian.

Kilian also noted that how NMCB 133, Det. Guam enhanced U.S. relations with local communities, which will support a lasting impact to the region, ensuring continued freedom of access.

“As Seabees, we always cherish the opportunity to display our effectiveness and skillsets within the community,” said Lt. Cmdr. Matthew Mattivi, officer-in-charge of NMCB 133, Det. Guam.

NMCB 133, Det. Guam completed more than 4,800 man-days of construction readiness operations valued at more than $1.9 million and provided responsive support in Pohnpei for the stand up of NMCB 4, detail Ulithi, meeting U.S Pacific Command engagement goals in the area of operations.
