It was the first parent and child workshop hosted aboard base. The clinic operates in conjunction with the New Parent Support Program, Exceptional Family Member Program and Start Smart program.
The Start Smart Baseball program prepares children and their parents for organized baseball by teaching throwing, catching, batting, running and agility in a positive and non-threatening environment.
Children were able to develop strong motor skills and gradually build confidence in their ability by performing various fun and challenging tasks.
On top of developing their sports skills, children were able to spend quality one-on-one time with their parent, thus strengthening the bond between parent and child.
Start Smart typically offers eight different seasonal sports programs; however, Quantico only offers baseball, basketball and soccer.
Registration for Start Smart, T-Ball and baseball began Feb. 3 for the early bird special. Normal registration continues from Feb. 17 – March 17 everyday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

T-Ball: 5-6 years old
Baseball (Coach Pitch): 7-8 years old
Baseball (Minor League): 9-12 years old
