YOKOSUKA, Japan – Information Warfare Training Site (IWTS) Yokosuka received its first Joint Tactical Terminal Maritime (JTT-M) installation, Feb. 9.

JTT is a tactical intelligence terminal which provides the capability to disseminate time-sensitive command, control, communications, computer, and intelligence (C4I), and battlefield targeting information to tactical commanders and intelligence nodes in near-real time.

Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) technicians conducted the installation and provided one week of training to IWTS instructors.

"We got a lot of great training from the guys at SPAWAR," said Cryptologic Technician (Technical) 1st Class Justin Castillo. "We've received a lot of feedback from students in the past requesting hands-on training on the system. This will be a great teaching tool for classes in the future."

The JTT-M was installed as part of the Center for Information Warfare Training’s (CIWT) electronic warfare (EW) training modernization effort. The realism provided by this equipment marks a significant advance in forward-deployed naval forces EW training capabilities.

"The course upgrade and installation of the JTT system will allow students to get the hands-on training they've been requesting,” said Cryptologic Technician (Technical) 1st Class Braxton Riley, Sr. “Jeremy Hunt from SPAWAR has created a fantastic SOP that we received during our system operation verification test. The SOP will be instrumental in delivering JTT knowledge to the fleet."

JTT is only the latest course to receive updated curriculum. CIWT has updated four other EW courses including EW Threat Recognition, EW Officer Surface, Fleet National Systems Support, and Surface EW Operations-Journeyman. The revised courses are far more challenging and in-depth than previous versions, and the goal is to provide Sailors with the knowledge they need to improve upon divisional EW training throughout the fleet.

IWTC San Diego, as part of the Center for Information Warfare Training, provides a continuum of training to Navy and joint service personnel that prepares them to conduct information warfare across the full spectrum of military operations.
