“One thing I’m really into these days is weightlifting. I started about nine months ago and am working toward my first competition early next year. My journey started in high school when I was bullied and turned to food for comfort. I eventually was able to replace that with fitness. I got a job as a lifeguard, which helped because I would swim three to five miles a week. I graduated high school in December, went to basic military training in January and earned top female in physical training. One day, I would like to become a PT leader to motivate others and lead fitness activities, but right now I’m still learning my job. I just had my first promotion this month. It feels nice because I’m not getting saluted anymore. And just like fitness, I’m working my way up. It’s not always easy, but seeing progress is definitely worth it.”
