A Marine at Fort McCoy for the 2nd Marine Air Wing’s Ullr Shield exercise participated in cold-water immersion training on Jan. 17, 2018, at Big Sandy Lake on South Post at Fort McCoy, Wis. He was one of dozens to participate in the training.
Ullr Shield is a training exercise designed to improve 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing’s capabilities in extreme cold-weather environments.
The 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing is headquartered at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C.
Hundreds of Marines participated in the exercise at Fort McCoy.
Fort McCoy has supported America’s armed forces since 1909.
