The New Year celebration at Naval Hospital Bremerton’s Northwest Beginnings Family Birth Center waited until almost 15 hours into 2018 with the arrival of the first baby born.
Kiasha Blakely celebrated the birth of her daughter, Anarhi, who was born Jan. 1, 2018 at 2:48 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, and weighed 6 pounds, 10.7 ounces.

Blakely, an Arkansas native, is assigned to Naval Base Kitsap – Bremerton.

Both mother and baby are doing well.

“She’s doing so well. When I called home everyone was excited,” said Blakely.

Overall, Naval Hospital Bremerton recorded 530 births for 2017, an average of approximately 44 per month.
