CAMP FOSTER, OKINAWA, Japan – Camp Foster USO hosted a holiday dinner for service members Dec. 28 at the USO.
The dinner was a way for service members who worked through the holidays to enjoy a get together with friends and family.
The dinner was a home cooked-meal of holiday favorites such as ham, stuffing and green bean casserole with a dessert table for everyone to enjoy. Tables were decorated in festive colors and gift bags were handed out.
“We wanted to thank our service members and offer them free food,” said Becky Thomas, field programs manager with Camp Foster USO. “We wanted to make sure everyone could have a holiday meal this year. We even bought food boxes so they could take food to go.”
The dinner was accompanied by music and a raffle. The raffle gifts ranged from movies and water bottles, to skateboards and electronics.
“This is a blessing for the Marines stationed here during the holiday,” said Sgt. Rene Rodriguez, a motor vehicle operator with 3rd Transportation Support Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 3, 3rd Marine Logistic Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force. “Many Marines work the holiday like military police for example. This gives them a chance to get together with their brothers and sisters. It boosts their spirits.”
