Mary Esther, Fla. – Family and friends of 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and the surrounding community came decked out in their festive, holiday gear to Jingle Bell Jog with the Soldiers at Santa Rosa Mall, December 2, 2017.
According to Johnny Moses, president, Special Forces Association Chapter 7 (SFACH7), the purpose of the annual event was “to get further acquainted with the local community and strengthen morale amongst our service members,” and just in time for the holiday season.
Volunteers from the Group and community were posted along the race routes to provide water, direction and motivation to the runners. Local sponsors provided prizes and goodie bags at the finish line.
This was SFACH7’s 39th year hosting a Jingle Bell Jog. The event included a 5k run/walk, a 10k race, a kid’s fun run and a $500 raffle given away at the conclusion of all the races. Trophies were presented to the top finishers. There was food and fun for all ages.
“We absolutely love the community for allowing us the opportunity to engage them once again,” said Moses. “The holidays can sometimes be hard on [service members] and having events like these where we can let loose, be with our families and have a good, safe time really mean a lot.”
“This is a perfect opportunity to show our community who we are as an organization,” said Moses.
