OKINAWA, Japan –Capt. Kedric Webster, the Group Surgeon for Commander, Task Force 76, passed away of natural causes Dec. 13 in Pensacola, Florida.
Webster was on leave visiting family and friends for the holidays at the time of his death. He is survived by his mother, Fronzena Webster, and his daughters, Elise and Reese Webster.
He honorably served in the United States Navy for 27 years. He joined the CTF 76 staff in Okinawa, Japan in June 2016 where he served and supported crisis response operations and many major exercises with our partners in the Pacific.
“We are shocked and saddened by the death of our shipmate and friend. Our heartfelt condolences are with Capt. Webster’s children and family,” said Capt. Marvin Thompson, Commander, Task Force 76. “He was an incredible professional, a great asset to the Navy, and a friend to many on our team. We will always remember him for his intellect, enthusiasm, and sense of humor.”
Webster, a native of Tuskegee, Alabama, was admired and respected among the staff for his joyful spirit, professionalism, and ever present smile. He exemplified engaged leadership through his sincere interest and involvement in the personal and professional development of his Sailors.
Capt. Webster was the officer in charge of Fleet Surgical Team (FST) 7, as well as a mentor and friend to many on his team. Prior to his time with FST 7 and CTF 76, he served at U.S. Naval Hospital Yokosuka, Japan, Naval Hospital Cherry Point, North Carolina, Winn Army Community Hospital in Fort Stewart, Georgia, Naval Hospital Jacksonville, Florida, and Naval Hospital Pensacola, Florida. He volunteered for multiple deployments and served in Iraq, Afghanistan, Qatar, Kuwait, the Horn of Africa and ships in the Persian Gulf during OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM.
He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. During his time at the Academy he was a proud member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He later received a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in 1999.
His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), the Army Commendation Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal.
Capt. Webster will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and shipmates at CTF 76 and FST 7.
