Santa Shop brings holiday cheer to Colorado National Guard families in need
By Colorado National Guard Public Affairs

CENTENNIAL, Colo. – The Colorado National Guard Family Programs office and Santa will provide Christmas presents to CONG families in need Dec. 9.

The annual CONG Santa Shop will take place at the Denver Armory, 5275 Franklin St., Denver, 80216, from 9 a.m. to noon, while supplies last.

Santa will visit to ask children about their holiday wishes from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The Santa Shop provides an opportunity for parents to “shop” for their children and children to “shop” for their parents – all at no cost.

“Colorado National Guard families make many sacrifices so that our members can support the warfight and protect our homeland,” the Adjutant General of Colorado U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Michael Loh said. “Family programs like Santa Shop are one way that we, as a community, can help care for our National Guard families.”

Families can collect two presents per child and unlimited stocking stuffers, while supplies last.

Hot chocolate, cookies and crafts are available for kids throughout the event.

Individuals and local businesses donated the gifts.

The CONG Family Program Staff in Colorado Springs will offer an informal gift pick-up Dec. 11-21 at the North Colorado Springs Readiness Center for those families living outside the Denver metro area who need holiday assistance. For more information, contact CONG Family Programs Director, Charlene Shields, at 303-895-4784 or 720-250-1190.

For those unable to attend the Santa Shop, non-profit organizations can help CONG servicemembers and their families. Contact Family Programs Contractor Danielle Hinson for eligibility at 720-250-5571.
