The appreciation week activities included a kick-off breakfast at the 20th MDG, a “Projection of Air Power” briefing and a fellowship lunch followed by the 4A/MSC Amazing Race event. Additionally, 4As and MSCs received an opportunity to tour the Palmetto Health Tuomey hospital in Sumter, S.C. The week ended with an ice cream and cupcake social at the 20th MDG.

Approximately 40 4As and MSCs participated in the week’s events.

“Sometimes it’s a thankless job, but we enjoy doing it,” said Tech Sgt. Kathy Lashley, 20th Aerospace Medical Squadron flight medicine records noncommissioned officer in charge. “We may not be the doctor or the technician, but we’re the ones giving you that smile when you come in or making sure that your medication is here. We make sure everything is safe and that everything gets done.”

The annual 4A/MSC Appreciation Week is a Department of Defense medical corps-wide celebration that takes place during the last week of October and celebrates the contributions and dedication of these healthcare professionals. This year’s theme was “Trusted Care … We Get It Done.”

"This week celebrates the special bond 4As and MSCs share and recognizes the hard work we do for the Air Force Medical Service and throughout the Air Force,” said Lt. Col. Joi Dozier, 20th MDG administrator. “It also gives us time for fellowship and reflect on each career field's accomplishments, both in-garrison and in deployed environments."

Lashley went on to say she thinks the appreciation week is a good morale booster and is a good way to celebrate the 4As and MSCs and their hard work.

The annual 4A/MSC Appreciation Week is a way to celebrate and show gratitude to health care administrators who ensure the medical staff have everything necessary to provide high-quality care at home or deployed.
