CAMP PENDLETON, Calif.— Leaders and representatives from the Lincoln and Hunt housing offices hosted a series of briefs for Marines, Sailors and residents at various locations on Camp Pendleton from October 24-30.

The briefs were intended to provide on-base housing residents’ opportunities to meet with Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton Government Family Housing leadership, develop an understanding of the partnership, receive information on installation initiatives, and ask any questions the residents may have.

“Our goal was to provide a forum that they could come to us face to face, sit down, receive information from the housing office” said Cmdr. Russ Rang, the assistant chief of staff for facilities on Camp Pendleton.

During the housing brief Bob Marshall, the director of family housing for Camp Pendleton, discussed the Resident Energy Conservation Program, Marine Corps Housing Management, Referral and Assignment, and Asset Management.

Residents were able to ask questions and meet one-on-one with subject matter experts regarding housing or concerns they might have. They were also encouraged to use the three step process for resolving housing issues.

The first step would be to identify the service issue and contact the appropriate Family Housing District Office. If the service issue is left unresolved, the next step would be to contact Family Housing Management. Finally, if residents remain unsatisfied with the service, they are welcome to contact the Installation Government Family Housing Office.

The open house forums are held in various locations annually and residents are highly encouraged to attend, as they can obtain viable information on possible upcoming housing changes.

“I believe that the people involved with housing and the public private venture partnership did their best, and I believe there are some actions they are going to take with them and they can tackle that going into tomorrow, said Rang. “I think Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, and MCI-West providing a venue like this is advantageous. We try our best to be open communicators.”

Many residents throughout the installation were able to attend the events remotely via live broadcasts on the housing offices’ social media platforms, though several took the opportunity to attend in-person.
Maria Vasquezz and her husband learned about the events on their housing office Facebook page and decided to attend to learn more about the resolution process and follow up on a recent concern regarding the home, they say, has been a good transition home for the newly married.

“We have been impressed with the community and the office’s [effort] to keep people informed,” said Vasquez. Adding that the liked the added option of viewing the events online as well.

For more information regarding any of the topics discussed during the events, contact your local housing office.
