    SLOAN, Nev. - First Sergeant Skyler R. Cordova from Phoenix, Arizona, accepted responsibility of the Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC), 650th Regional Support Group (RSG) from 1st Sgt. Barry M. Cox, Oct. 15, 2017, at the George W. Dunaway U.S. Army Reserve Center here.

    Guests in attendance witnessed the completion of the passing of the noncommissioned officer (NCO) sword which symbolized the transfer of duties from Cox to Cordova.

    “It is an incredible honor and privilege to be part of such an incredible organization,” said Cordova. “I look forward to providing purpose, direction, and motivation to the Soldiers of HHC, 650th RSG.”

    Cordova’s 15 years of military service includes six years in the U.S. Army, assigned to the 1st Battalion (BN), 18th Infantry Regiment in Schweinfurt, Germany, and nine years in the U.S. Army Reserve, assigned to the 1st BN, 415th Regiment.

    Cordova’s distinguished leadership achievements include the 2007 NCO of the year for the 1-18 Infantry, the U.S. Army Drill Sergeant Distinguished Honor Graduate and Leadership Award Recipient for class 04-09, and the 2014 NCO of the year for the 1-415th, the 2nd Brigade, the 95th Division, and the 108th Training Command. He’s earned the Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Infantry Badge, Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge, Airborne, and Air Assault.

    During his speech, Cordova was sure to thank his wife Rachael and their two daughters, Talia and Jordyn, as he said he could not have done it quite the same without their love, support, and encouragement.

    Command Sgt. Maj. Darin S. Daniels, 650th RSG command sergeant major welcomed Cordova to the 650th RSG Family, wished him success, and acknowledged confidence in Cordova to lead the Soldiers of the HHC, 650th RSG.

    Daniels, who was also the reviewing NCO over the ceremony, praised Cox for his devotion and perseverance in taking care of Soldiers and in upholding USARC readiness standards.

    On order, the HHC, 650th RSG, will mobilize, deploy, and provide command and supervision over personnel assigned to the unit in the theater of operations or Defense Support of Civil Authorities. The HHC will provide unit level support, administration, billeting, discipline, security, and training for assigned personnel in order to support united land operations.

    Now a mission Cordova will carry on and facilitate as the new first sergeant.

    “Together, we will continue to prepare ourselves for combat operations around the world,” he said. “We will be ready when our great nation calls on us. Let it Ride!”
