Story by Airman 1st Class Tristan Viglianco

    9th Reconnaissance Wing

“It was around 7:00 a.m. and I was driving towards the Vassar Lake Gate when a family of deer crossed the road. There were three cars ahead of me and the first car stopped to avoid the deer. The second vehicle slowed down enough to where it only caused a little fender bender; The third vehicle crashed right into them. When I saw this I put my car in park and went towards the accident and a lady got out of the last car. She was disorientated and frantically trying to open the back door because her daughter was in the vehicle, which was still moving. So I got in the car and put it in park and then unlocked the door from the inside. I took her daughter out of the car returned her to her mom. I offered them water and bandages. Then, I helped a guy out of the second vehicle and waited with all of them until the police and ambulance arrived. Everyone hopes they will react in this way, but you never know until it happens. I was just in the right place at the right time.”
