RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany – A military spouse from the Kaiserslautern Military Community won the 86th Force Support Squadron (FSS) Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) and Innovation program logo contest held from July 10-Aug. 10.

The contest involved combining the idea of innovation with the 86th Airlift Wing (AW) into a single logo.

“We needed a way to market and build brand equity while getting our program information out there, because it is very difficult to communicate with such a large wing,” said Rebecca Porinsky, 86th FSS CPI wing process manager. “We thought that by coming up with a logo, we could help associate our information with our program and hopefully generate some excitement with a cool looking logo.”

The 86th FSS CPI office and Innovation Program is responsible for streamlining and reducing waste in Air Force processes while increasing operational capabilities using proven techniques associated with fulfilling the Air Force Mission.

“As soon as I read the advertisement in the newspaper, I immediately got ideas,” said Sabine Allen, graphic designer. “I researched the 86th AW because I didn’t know anything about it or the CPI Office and Innovation program. I researched, then I pulled up pictures to help with the brainstorm process. The entire process took about an hour.”

Allen is the spouse of U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Anthony Allen, Religious Service Office noncommissioned officer in charge on Kleber Kaserne.

Allen studied graphic design in college and has been a professional graphic designer for more than 10 years. She had her husband review the logo before it was submitted to the CPI office, where it was selected as the winner of the contest.

“I thought it was perfect,” said Porinsky. “It tied in with the 86th AW and innovation with the lightbulb, and the colors went with the base crest, it was just perfect.”

The logo will be used in different campaigns and Allen couldn’t be happier with the results.

“Since I was a little kid, I knew I wanted to be a graphic designer,” said Allen. “I think it’s a gift from God. I think it’s blessing to be able to help other people out with my talent. She (Porinsky) was so happy with the logo, and it filled my heart with joy that someone really liked it. That’s why I do it, it brings joy to me to see when someone likes something I made for them.

The CPI and Innovation Program are always looking for innovative ways to improve existing processes. If you have an idea or suggestion, contact the CPI office at 06371-47-4032.
