Starke, Fla. - Airmen from the 202nd REDHORSE forded rising flood waters to rescue a driver who had lost control of her vehicle on Highway 17 between Sebring and Punta Gorda, yesterday.
Master Sgt. Damon Jeskins, power production supervisor, said the REDHORSE team was surveying the flooded roadway when they saw the motorist driving along. He saw the driver tried to cross when the vehicle lost control.

Senior Airmen Ernie Mitchell, airfield and pavements journeyman, was able to assist the driver onto the tractor trailer and the team got the her to safety.
“It felt great,” Jeskins said "like we were doing what we’re put here to do, which is help the citizens of the state.”
The 202nd is a highly mobile, world-wide deployable response force that operates in all conditions including overseas deployment and natural disasters. They are currently spread throughout Florida performing airfield and roadway recovery.
