CAMP TAJI, Iraq – Maj. Gen. Victor Braden, 35th Infantry Division commanding general, and Command Sgt. Maj. Timothy Newton, 35th Inf., Div.’s command sergeant major, visited Taji Military Complex, Iraq, August 21,2017, on a battlefield circulation tour to Task Force Spartan subordinate units.
Braden met with key leaders and provided guidance for Operation Spartan Shield. Braden spoke with Soldiers to gain greater understanding on the 29th CAB’s ongoing participation in Operation Inherent Resolve, the campaign to defeat ISIS in Iraq and Syria.
The 29th CAB “is doing a fantastic job in OIR,” said Braden.
During the official visit, Braden provided a briefing on the region and shared his key priorities and actions for TF Spartan.
“To have Maj. Gen. Braden take the time to break it down was very informative,” said Spc. Pierre Foreman, a human resources specialist with the 29th CAB. “I learned a lot about the overall mission.”
The TF Spartan command team challenged 29th CAB Soldiers at the end of the briefing to leave the theater of operations better than when they got to here.
The 29th CAB supports Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve in the fight against ISIS while simultaneously supporting TF Spartan in OSS. They provid aviation assets and operational and logistical support while conducting interoperability training with both U.S. and regional partner units.
