CENTENNIAL, Colo. – Supporting a request from the State of Texas, Colorado National Guard members will provide medical and aviation assets to assist the Texas National Guard and civil authorities to save lives and relieve suffering in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.

Gov. John Hickenlooper, by executive order, authorized the use of National Guard forces through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact, a national mutual-aid partnership agreement that allows state-to state assistance during governor- or federally-declared emergencies.

The Colorado Air National Guard will provide medical capabilities while the Colorado Army National Guard provides aviation support.

“Our hearts go out to all those impacted by this unprecedented disaster," said the Adjutant General of Colorado Air Force Maj. Gen. Michael Loh. “Our Soldiers and Airmen are trained and ready to assist the people of Texas.”

The Colorado National Guard has additional capabilities ready for follow on requests from Texas while continuing to maintain homeland defense, overseas operations and civil support forces here in Colorado.
