JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas -- Military family members and retirees over age 65 in the San Antonio area are invited to enroll for primary care at Brooke Army Medical Center.

BAMC currently has openings for new patients at Westover Medical Home on the Northwest side of San Antonio and the CPT Jennifer M. Moreno Primary Care Clinic located on Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston. Westover and Moreno are equipped with on-site laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy and behavioral health, and also offer extended evening hours.

BAMC leaders are hoping over-65 TRICARE beneficiaries who receive their primary care in the community will consider "coming home" to military health care.

"We are very pleased to invite these most-deserving patients to our world-class facilities," BAMC Commander Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Johnson said. "We consider it a tremendous privilege and an honor to care for those who have already given so much to our Nation.

"We'd like to provide primary, specialty, surgical and inpatient high-quality, patient-centered care for as many of our beneficiaries as possible," the commander added.

BAMC embraces a patient-centered medical home model that fosters a partnership between patients and medical teams to meet preventive, routine and urgent needs. This team approach to health care includes licensed vocational nurses, registered nurses, family nurse practitioners, physician assistants and physicians working together to take care of patients.

“Our goal is to make our patients feel at home. We treat them as friends and as family, not just a number,” said Dr. Darii A. Lane, chief of the Westover Medical Home.

BAMC’s aim in increasing enrollment is to improve access to care for beneficiaries while enhancing medical readiness, which is a top priority for Army senior leaders. Military health care professionals must be prepared to deploy on short notice to provide lifesaving healthcare, and BAMC serves as a premier training platform for these professionals.

Beneficiaries must have Medicare Part B to enroll. Enrollment is limited. For more information, call 210-808-3805 or 221-8399 or email usarmy.jbsa.medcom-bamc.list.bamc-enrollment@mail.mil.
