“I have never met my biological mother because I was born addicted to drugs and immediately placed into foster care. I had one foster family who raised me and eventually adopted me at six years old. My family provided me with a home and so much love. I never felt like I wasn’t a part of the family. I am grateful for everything. I have been told before that I would never amount to anything. Doctors told me I would have a lot of developmental problems and behavioral problems, but with my family's love and support I overcame everything. I didn’t want it to hold me back and it made me work harder. I was told I would probably not make it out of high school, but I graduated college and I’m in the Air Force now. I like to prove people wrong and I think me wearing this uniform does that.”
