LOUISVILLE, Tenn. – The Air National Guard’s I.G. Brown Training and Education Center welcomed a former officer candidate here as its next commander June 1, after Col. Kevin M. Donovan relinquished command to Col. Kerry R. Lovely during a Change of Command ceremony.

Colonel Donovan commanded the TEC since April 2016 and was reassigned as the Cyber Division Chief for the Joint Staff at the National Guard Bureau.

“It’s been a true honor and privilege to serve with you,” said Donovan to TEC’s staff. “You absolutely delivered to making us successful.”

Colonel Lovely takes command after serving as Chief of Diversity for the Air National Guard at Joint Base Andrews. Long before that, she was a Minnesota National Guard enlisted Airman who earned her commission in 1993 through TEC’s Academy of Military Science.

She went on to become a joint qualified officer with command experience, who served as a personnel officer and as a logistics readiness officer at the wing, state headquarters and National Guard Bureau level.

“This command is so different than anything in the field, and to me that makes it so special,” said Lovely, who revealed her amazement and appreciation when given her reassignment by Brig. Gen. Steven S. Nordhaus, the Air National Guard Readiness Center commander.

    General Nordhaus officiated the ceremony.

“We’re taking one great commander from you, and we are giving you another great commander,” said Nordhaus.

TEC is a detachment of the Air National Guard Readiness Center. Its staff of about 85 active, Guard and Reserve Airmen conduct Enlisted Professional Military Education and Professional Continuing Education for the total Air Force, National Guard Bureau, Coast Guard and partner-nation armed forces. (AMS moved to Maxwell Air Force Base in 2009.)

TEC’s change of command was its first to be live-streamed across the internet, and many watched via YouTube, Facebook, Twitter or TEC’s public web site.

TEC also broadcast the ceremony on its Warrior Network; a broadcast enterprise with more than 164 national downlink sites for training and education, and command information.
