CRANE, Ind. – Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch visited Crane Army Ammunition Activity following a ribbon-cutting ceremony officially announcing the opening of Duke Energy’s solar array project on Naval Support Activity Crane on May 18.

Crouch toured CAAA’s pyrotechnics facility and the future Flexible Manufacturing Complex in order to get a closer look at Crane Army’s core mission of providing conventional munitions to the Warfighter. During her time at the pyrotechnics facility, Crouch was able to experience CAAA’s capabilities firsthand.

“It was wonderful having Lt. Gov. Crouch tour Crane Army during her visit to NSA Crane,” deputy to the commander Norman Thomas said. “The visit was a chance for her to see our skilled employees hard at work in our facilities, and an opportunity to share with her our vision for the future of Crane Army.”

Crouch was able to experience Crane Army’s dedication to future readiness in action at the future Flexible Manufacturing Complex. The complex, which is not yet completed, is an example of how CAAA invests in improving its competitive edge to be more efficient and effective in providing future readiness to the Army and the Department of Defense as a whole.

During her time at NSA Crane, the lieutenant governor participated in the Duke Energy solar array project ribbon-cutting ceremony. The ceremony officially recognized the Department of the Navy’s partnership with Duke Energy in developing a solar generation facility on NSA Crane.

“I want to express my unrelenting commitment to our installations and to the men and women who serve our great state and our country,” Crouch said. “A strong military and strong military community are the future of economic development and the strength of our state and our nation.”

Established October 1977, Crane Army Ammunition Activity maintains ordnance professionals and infrastructure in order to receive, store, ship, produce, renovate and demilitarize conventional ammunition, missiles and related components. Crane Army maintains up to one third of the DoD’s conventional ammunition inventory. The Activity also provides command oversight of Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, Letterkenny Munitions Center, Pennsylvania, and Milan Army Ammunition Plant, Tennessee.
