Naval Hospital Jacksonville ─ its hospital and five naval branch health clinics (NBHCs), Navy Operational Support Center (NOSC) Jacksonville, Operational Health Support Unit (OHSU) Jacksonville headquarters, and 10 OHSU Jacksonville detachments have again earned the Navy Surgeon General's Health Promotion and Wellness Blue H Award for 2016.
“Prevention and health promotion are key to both a medically-ready force and a ready medical force,” said Capt. David Collins, NH Jacksonville commanding officer.
Gold Star (highest level) was achieved by the hospital; NBHCs Jacksonville, Kings Bay, and Mayport; NOSC Jacksonville; OHSU Jacksonville headquarters; and OHSU Jacksonville Detachments A, C, E, J, K, N, P, and R. NBHC Albany earned Silver Eagle recognition, while NBHC Key West and OHSU Detachments D and O received the Bronze Anchor.
The Blue H recognizes Navy medical commands for excellence in clinical primary prevention, community health promotion, and medical staff health. The award assesses areas such as: responsible drinking, injury and violence-free living, healthy eating, active living, reproductive and sexual health, psychological health, tobacco-free living, and weight management.
