    10th Combat Aviation Brigade

Sgt. 1st Class Marcus Lindquist, an native of Alexandria, Minnesota, and a cyber network defender with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division (LI), was promoted into the ranks of the U.S. Army's senior non-commissioned officers on May 3 in Illesheim, Germany.

Lindquist's aviation brigade is currently serving on a rotational deployment to Europe in support of U.S. Army Europe's Atlantic Resolve mission, which reassures NATO allies and partners while deterring aggression in the region.

Lindquist said he had recently graduated from college with a degree in teaching and was looking for a way to pay down his loans when he decided to join the U.S. Army years ago.

"The more I was in the Army, the more I loved being an NCO," said Lindquist. "That is one factor that continually drives me."

He was drawn to a career in the Army's signal corps because he felt it offered him a chance to continually grow within the ever-evolving field.

"I have always been driven to be the best that I can and have forward movement. Whether it's getting optional certifications or doing extra work that wasn't required of me, that internal drive is what pushes me to do those things."

With this wealth of knowledge under his belt, Lindquist said he's now been able to share what he's learned with his Soldiers. Being able to play an active role in his Soldiers' professional growth in the signal field continues to motivate him to this day.

Lindquist thanked his wife, Jennifer, for always seeing his true potential, pushing him to strive for more, and never allowing him to get stuck in a rut. He acknowledged his parents, Dave and Rose Lindquist, for always believing in his abilities and encouraging him to reach his goals. Finally, he credited his daughter, Victoria, with being the reason he works so hard, so that he can provide for her the life he always envisioned for his family.

10th Combat Aviation Brigade will return from its mission in Europe in late November and early December.
