USACE Galveston District’s Employee Spotlight Timmy Walls

GALVESTON, Texas (May 2, 2017) – With both parents working for the city of Chicago Illinois, Timmy Walls was raised looking up to two positive figures with strong work ethic and a “can-do” attitude. Modeling after his parents, Walls elected to pursue a career in which he could feel challenged and fulfilled. Now, a construction control representative for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, Walls embraces every opportunity to learn and strive for excellence in his everyday tasks.

“I am passionate about my job and take an active interest in learning every aspect of the business” said Walls “This not only sets my path toward success, it also helps me get through the daily grind”

As a construction control representative, Timmy Walls plays a major role in the safety and infrastructure of Houston’s largest dams. The current project Walls is overseeing is the Addicks and Barker Dams’ safety modification project. Work on the dams consists of construction of new intake towers, steel-lined conduits, parabolic chute slabs, stilling basins, cutoff walls and downstream filters, in addition to the grouting and decommissioning of the existing outlet structures in place at both dams.

“What I like about this project is that I get to make a difference in the lives of my co-workers and the city of Houston” said Walls “I have the opportunity to do my job and have the resources available to be effective while being able to see the end results of all the hard work and effort that is put into producing a final product.”

Walls is proud of the work he is doing to bring value to the nation and is recognized and praised from his coworkers for his uplifting outlook on life.

“Mr. Walls is known for his exceptional attitude and personality. His positive attitude is a force, improving the morale of those around him, making everyone happier and more successful at work.” said Rob Thomas, chief of Engineering and Construction Division “He is always willing to help improve our District projects, evidenced by recently volunteering to help build new world class structures at Addicks and Barker dams.”
