Commander, Navy Medicine East (NME), Rear Adm. Anne Swap visited Naval Hospital Jacksonville (its hospital and five branch health clinics) from April 24 to 26 as part of a tour of NME facilities.
The visit enabled Swap to tour the hospital and all five branch health clinics (in Albany and Kings Bay, Georgia; and Jacksonville, Key West, and Mayport, Florida). She met with Navy Medicine’s deckplate professionals and answered staff questions in workspaces throughout each site.
“Naval Hospital Jacksonville has a reputation for getting it done,” Swap observed in a meeting with the executive steering council.
Swap, who also serves as director of the Medical Service Corps, attended an MSC luncheon at the hospital and discussed the community’s current and future states. The Medical Service Corps is the most highly varied corps in Navy Medicine, with 31 diverse specialties, in the areas of health care administration, health care science, and clinical care.
Prior to departing the Jacksonville area, Swap met with Commander, Navy Region Southeast, Rear Adm. Bette Bolivar.
NME oversees the delivery of medical, dental and other health care services to approximately one million patients at almost 100 facilities ─ including the Tidewater Military Health System which brings together McDonald Army Health Center, Naval Medical Center Portsmouth and U.S. Air Force Hospital Langley. Plus, its public health activities extend globally.
NH Jacksonville's priority since its founding in 1941 is to heal the nation's heroes and their families.
