Auditions
The group spent two hours Monday morning auditioning. MCT’s Jordan Brooks and Molly Malady were looking for personality and expressiveness more than specific roles. Additionally, SAC’s Christa Davis and Cade Peters were chosen as assistant directors for the production.
Rehearsals
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday were dedicated to rehearsal. Youth spent two hours each morning and another two hours each afternoon learning stage direction, practicing lines and set building. The work and time required during rehearsal gave youth a glimpse into what it takes to put on a professional production.
Costume and makeup
Just before the first curtain, each actor donned their costume and applied makeup. Brooks and Malady gave a brief tutorial about how theatre makeup aids character enhancement.
Showtime
With everything prepared, it was time to “raise the curtain.”
