JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii—“I am an American, fighting in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense,” Article I of the Code of Conduct.

Published on Aug. 17, 1955 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, the Code of Conduct outlines basic responsibilities and obligations of members of the U.S. Armed Forces. All military members are expected to measure up to the standards described in the Code of Conduct, but few will make the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

For those who have, their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

“It is critically important to remember our fallen brothers and sisters in arms, to honor their service to our country and to thank them for giving everything for our life of freedoms that we have today,” said Lt. Col. Russell Hall, 25th Air Support Operations Squadron (ASOS) commander.

The 25th ASOS organized and participated in the 6th Annual Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) Association’s Remembrance Run on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, from March 30-31, 2017. The 24-hour run kicked off at noon to honor fallen members of the TACP community.

“The TACP memorial run event is when we, as TACP members, take time to remember those who have fallen in the line of duty as Battlefield Airmen,” said Hall. “We do this by running non-stop for 24 hours. Each Air Support Operations Squadron, whether deployed or at home station, participates simultaneously across the globe.”

In addition to memorializing their fallen fellow Airmen, the unit also uses the annual event to raise money and awareness for the U.S. Air Force TACP Association, which provides support to injured veterans, those suffering with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and their family members.

“Remembering the sacrifice of our brothers and sisters is the least that we can do for the families of fallen warriors,” said Staff Sgt. Eric McKinley, 647th Civil Engineering Squadron explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) technician. “The families of the fallen need to know that we will never forget those who were lost, that they have our support and we will do everything in our power to be there for them in times of need.”
