Generation Schools Network hosted a Military Exploration Workshop at Columbine High School in Littleton, Co. March 21, 2017. The workshop welcomed students from several local high schools to learn about multiple post-secondary opportunities, to include career opportunities, medical pathways and Reserve Officer Training Corps possibilities through the military.
Attendees of the workshop included approximately 100 students and parents from Columbine and other local schools.
This was the second military exploration workshop hosted by GSN in the Colorado area, the first taking place at Littleton High School in October of last year.
According to their website, generationschools.org, “Generation Schools Network is a leader in launching and supporting new schools in turnaround environments. We work with school and district leaders to reorganize the resources that districts already have, particularly talent, time, and technology, to implement the first and only education model in the nation that expands learning time and reduces class size for all students in core courses in a cost effective way. We support schools through planning, launch, and implementation of on-going training coaching and technical assistance to ensure that the new model is sustained and owned by the school and district.”
The website also mentions the four key issues GSN focuses on; dropout epidemic, achievement gap, workforce preparedness gap, and opportunity gap.
Generation Schools Network says its next workshop in Colorado is scheduled to take place at Thunder Ridge High School on April 17. For more information about the workshop, contact Kathryn Allison at kallison@generationschools.org.
