U.S. Secretary of Navy pays a visit to Camp Eggers' Navy personnel

KABUL, Afghanistan – Twenty Navy personnel at Camp Eggers dined with the Secretary of Navy, Honorable Dr. Donald C. Winter, during his Aug. 23, 2008 visit to Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan headquarters in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Winter's visit was part of a fact-finding tour with American Navy personnel serving in the Middle East and Asia, including stops in Iraq, central and eastern Afghanistan.

Following dinner with the sailors, Winter took questions and observations on a wide range of topics including new developments regarding the new DDG-1000 class destroyer, the Navy's ability to adapt to a coastal and riverine fighting force and the Navy's future participation in the war effort in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
