The Matthew C. Perry Lady Samurai soccer team participated in the Western Japan Athletic Association Girls Soccer Tournament on the M.C. Perry Sports Field at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, March 10-11, 2017
E.J. King High School, Marist Brothers International School, M.C. Perry High School, and Nagoya International School competed in the two-day tournament, which consisted of 10 games.
“The WJAA is comprised of international and Department of Defense schools,” said George Williams, the athletic director for M.C. Perry High School. “M.C. Perry and E.J. King from Sasebo, being the only two DoD high schools that participated.”
Marist Brothers International School and Nagoya International School also participated in the tournament.
The Lady Samurai won every game in the tournament without any team scoring against them, and the competition led up to M.C. Perry versus Marist Brothers International School in the final game, where M.C. Perry won 4-0.

This is the second year in a row that the Lady Samurai won the WJAA Girls Soccer Tournament.
Tige Tarleton, the head coach for the M.C. Perry female soccer team, said the team did the best they couldm and thought every team gave their all.
“We busted everything we had to win this tournament,” said Tarleton. “We had two and a half hour practices, six days a week for the past two weeks and just commitments from the girls giving all that they have.”
