    166th Airlift Wing

    On March 4, 2017 the Delaware Air National Guard Enlisted Recognition Banquet was held in honor of five members of the 166th Airlift Wing at the Deerfield Golf and Tennis Club. This banquet is held annually to formally recognize the achievement of airmen who have gone above and beyond the call of duty, excellence in their areas of expertise, and provided stellar performance.

    This year the following members were recognized for winning in different categories: Senior Master Sgt. Todd Dugar for Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year; Technical Sgt. Erin McGillian for Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year; Staff Sgt. Gabrielle Rieker, whom was promoted on the day of the ceremony from Senior Airman to Staff Sgt. for Airman of the Year; Master Sgt. Joseph Neisser for First Sergeant of the Year; and Staff Sgt. Jeffery Lee for Honor Guard Member of the Year.

    Leadership including Maj. General Carol A. Timmons, adjutant general, Delaware National Guard; Col. David B. Walker, assistant adjutant general- Air, Delaware National Guard; Chief Master Sergeant Patricia Ottinger, state command chief- Air, Delaware National Guard; Col. Robert Culcasi, commander, 166th Wing, and Chief Master Sgt. Shaune Peters, command chief, 166th Airlift Wing, were present to congratulate all award winners.

    Key speakers were present to discuss the achievements of the award winners and the significant impact that each member has had on the Delaware Air National Guard. Speakers included the following: Col. Michelle Kirwan, commander, 142nd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron; Lt. Col. Lynn Robinson, commander, 166th Maintenance Squadron; Lt. Col. Timothy Hoyle, commander, 166th Force Support Squadron; Lt. Col. Christopher Farmer, commander, 166th Air Maintenance Squadron; and Senior Master Sgt. Karen King, base service superintendent, 166th Airlift Wing.

    The Delaware Air National Guard Honor Guard presented the colors during the ceremony. A Missing Man presentation was also provided by Master Sgt. Michael Fernandez, base education and training manger, 166th Airlift Wing, in remembrance of fallen comrades during the awards banquet.

    Leadership discussed the attributes of the award members, a job well done, and continued efforts in the future which continue to make the 166th Airlift Wing American’s premier, tactical airlift wing which provides world class capability for the state of Delaware, and the nation.
