CAMP BONDSTEEL, Kosovo- Multinational Battle Group-East soldiers from the Polish Armed Forces conducted one of several monthly sync patrols, in coordination with the Serbian Armed Forces along the Kosovo – Serbian Administrative Boundary Line Feb 17. The patrols along the ABL help to deter illegal activity and foster an environment of shared cooperation with the Kosovo Force and SAF.
“We both have in interest in providing security along the ABL.” said Col. Cory Lusk, commander of MNBG-East “This is best done when working together, synchronizing assets, and learning from each other.”
The patrol, lead by the Polish Army’s 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment currently stationed at Camp Nothing Hill in northern Kosovo, facilitated the link up and subsequent short sync patrol. The Polish detachment commander, 1st Lt. Tomasz Stepien, escorted the MNBG-East commander throughout the patrol, allowing for a clear dialog of the current environment that his troops deal with on a day-to-day basis.
“Although SAF and KFOR have conducted joint sync patrols along the ABL for several years, we are just now starting to work together to solve common problems” said Lusk “The ABL is large and vast, and working together we provide a greater capability that provides security for both the citizens of Kosovo and Serbia.”
The patrols are in compliance with U.N. Security Council Resolution 1244, and the Military Technical Agreement, to maintain a secure environment for all citizens of Kosovo.
