Ashley Ignatz is the Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow Military Spouse of the Year.

According to the Military Spouse of the Year announcement letter, the Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year award “was created to recognize those spouses in the military community who have gone above and beyond in their service, advocacy, and support of our nation’s service members and military families.”

If the name Ignatz sounds familiar, it’s because her husband is Capt. Kendall Ignatz, the assistant public works officer and the Headquarters Company commanding officer aboard the base.

“I was very happy and excited to learn I would be holding that title,” Ashley said. “I believe I was selected for the award because of my work as a trainer with Marine Corps Family Team Building and my positive
    presence in the MCLB community.”

Ignatz said she volunteers to be on the Marine Corps Ball Planning Committee and the Parent Advisory Board for the Child Development Center.

“Being selected as MCLB Barstow's Spouse of the Year is a great opportunity to continue to learn, problem-solve, broaden my resources, and ultimately help other military families,” Ignatz said.

Her work as the Family Team Building trainer for Marine Corps Community Services gives her a sense of satisfaction when she helps military families navigate the often confusing world of the military lifestyle.

“I try to use my job as a platform to not only teach but also to connect military families with the resources available to them,” she said. “It makes me feel good to receive positive reviews on my workshops and know that what I said resonated with someone and will help them.”
