FORT STEWART, Ga. - Soldiers and Families from 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division participated in a battalion Family celebration Feb. 27 at Fort Stewart, Georgia.
Cottonbaler Families explored a variety of equipment and vehicles their Soldiers use during training and deployments, while bonding and increasing cohesion within the unit.
“Family day is important because it allows Families to see what the Soldiers actually do,” said Command Sgt. Maj. Michael Davenport, command sergeant major of 3-7 Inf. “It's a good time for people to get together without the stress of work.”
The celebration had events for children, spouses and Soldiers, including an obstacle course, dunk tank, pie-in-the-face fundraiser, night vision goggle tent and a weightlifting competition.
“Our extended Family got to come down and visit. It was a great opportunity for them to see what Chris’s work life is like,” said Rebekha Stancil, spouse of Pfc. Chris Stancil, an infantryman with 3-7 Inf. “We had some fun looking at all the heavy machinery. We have never been able to see that up close. It was cool.”
