WIESBADEN, Germany -- Now in his last week of command of 5th Signal Command (Theater), Col. Jimmy L. Hall Jr. shared some thoughts about his time with the Dragon Warriors.
Hall described the Soldiers, Civilians, host nation employees and contractors that he worked with as professionally competent and enthusiastic, which he said motivated him every day.
"This really is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I couldn't be more thankful for the support that I've received that just helped make this organization better," Hall said.
Hall served as the commander of 2nd Signal Brigade from 2012-2014 before moving to command 5th Signal Command (Theater). He highlighted several unit accomplishments from his four years, including progress in interoperability, cyber readiness, and modernizing and securing the network.
"I'm proud of two relationships that we've forged over the last 18 months -- one would be with the German's (Bundeswehr CIS Command), and second would be with the Polish military. Those two partnerships have fortified our ability to work towards interoperability with our NATO allies," Hall said.
He called for more international exercises such as the recent Anakonda 16 exercise in Poland as a means to further develop the necessary policies and procedures, as well as the working relationships required to operate within a multinational environment.
In addition to being the commander of 5th Signal Command (Theater), Hall was "dual hatted" as the U.S. Army Europe chief information officer/G-6. He said during his tenure the G-6 team led the way in governance, cyber readiness and in fielding new technology across the European theater.
"The theater would not have the posture it has now without the hard work and support of the G-6," Hall said.
Hall's next assignment will be on the staff of the U.S. Army Office of the CIO/G-6 at the Pentagon where he said he will continue to work to further interoperability.
Hall will pass command to Col. Charles Parker at a ceremony July 15 at 9:30 a.m. at hangar 1069 on Clay Kaserne in Wiesbaden. The ceremony will be broadcast live on the 5th Signal Command (Theater) Facebook page (www.facebook.com/5sigcmd).
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to lead and command this storied organization. There's no doubt in my mind this organization is stronger and is better prepared," Hall said.
