    21st Theater Sustainment Command

Team 21 was represented at the training exercise by Lt. Col Dean Huard, Material Management Branch Chief and Capt. Tommy Gaither, Deputy Support Operation from the 16th Sustainment Brigade, 21st TSC.

The five-day training exercise also welcomed logisticians from nine additional NATO countries that included Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungry, Germany, Norway, Slovenia, Slovakia, and the United Kingdom.
Through practical exercises on reception, staging, and onward movement; the nations worked together to enhance interoperability.

The Joint Logistics Support Group’s mission is to ensure theatre level logistics support and military engineering support to NATO forces by employing organic Combat Support and Combat Service Support capabilities in order facilitate a Safe and Secure Environment and Freedom of Movement.

“These engagements are important to increasing our interoperability with our NATO partners, as well as the comradery you build with other logisticians. It was a unique experience that will pay great dividend for future operations” Huard said.

While in attendance Huard and Gaither participated in training sessions centered on learning more about Multination Joint Logistics, JLSG Decision Making processes, NATO budgeting and contracting, and the role of the Joint Task Forces Head Quarters.

“I have to give the Bundeswehr kudos, they really did a good job of having knowledgeable speakers at the sessions and every detail was well planned and organized.” Huard added.
