    3rd Division Sustainment Brigade

Intelligence analysts from Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade teamed up with other intelligence Soldiers from 3rd Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team at Evans Army Airfield Dec. 2 to conduct training on the one system remote video terminal (OSRVT).
The overall purpose of the training was for STB Soldiers to explain and demonstrate to their intelligence counterparts at 3-15 how the OSRVT operates and pulls feed from various aircraft.
More specifically, the system receives information from manned and unmanned aerial vehicles. The feed allows the operator to capture position through videos and pictures.
“It’s a great asset to target location,” said Spc. Savina Brown, an intelligence analyst assigned to STB and one of the instructors for the training. “It’s great for self-awareness and surroundings.”
The units had conducted a setup training on Nov. 30 to familiarize themselves with the different pieces of the system and learn the basics on how to operate it. Being able to pull feed required good weather to allow aerial vehicles flying capability, which took place on Dec. 2.
They were able to establish a link with an unmanned aerial vehicle through the mobile directional antenna system (MDAS), a larger antenna that is placed on top of the expansible van.
For Staff Sgt. Justin Ward, the senior intelligence sergeant for 3-15, it was the first time in his 10-year Army career that he had ever used the system or seen it operate. However, after the training, he felt comfortable with it and knew it would be beneficial in the future.
“This is an internal asset that we’re going to be able to use in order to give the commander what he needs,” he said. “It gives us eyes in the skies.”
Both units agreed the training was a success.
“It was a really good objective just to meet people, show them what we know, pass it on and let them teach us, so it was a good handoff overall,” Brown said.
