Story by Senior Airman Malcolm Mayfield

    48th Fighter Wing

Gen. Tod Wolters, who took command of USAFE-AFAFRICA Aug. 11, is responsible for a full-spectrum of Air Force war-fighting capabilities that execute U.S. Air Force, U.S. European Command, and U.S. Africa Command missions with forward-based airpower and infrastructure to conduct and enable theater and global operations.

During the all-call, Wolters explained his priorities — trust, teamwork, and training — to Liberty Airmen.

“[These are] three key ingredients that I’ve used since I started in the Air Force, that were passed on to me from my dad, who did this very same stuff,” Wolters said. “Our number one job is to make sure that whoever replaces us is better than we are, and I exist to ensure that I create an environment that you are focused on that as well.”

Wolters also covered some Air Force-level priorities, including the reinvigoration of squadrons and joint fight, before concluding on the topic of resilience.

“I want your successors to be better than you,” Wolters said. “Whoever you replace, I want you to be a little bit faster, a little bit sharper, a little bit quicker, and a little bit more resilient.”

Before and after the all-call, Wolters visited and spoke with various Airmen across the wing. He wrapped up the visit by coining three Liberty Airmen for their outstanding work.
