FORT BRAGG, N.C. (Sept. 13, 2016) –”The army goes by regulations,” said Sgt. Antigeaus Dixon “If you want to learn your job you have to get into the regulation.”

Dixon is a human resource specialist with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division. Dixon participated in a military occupation specialty specific board Sept. 27, 2016, at Fort Bragg, N.C. The board determined the best human resource specialists in the XVIII Airborne.

“I went to the NCO of the quarter board at Bragg and I won that one,” Dixon said. “When they told me I won, I couldn’t stop smiling.”

Dixon went on to say that he felt the greatest sense of pride in knowing he had outshined his peers.

“He’s driven to make himself better,” said Staff Sgt. Michael Hearron, Dixon’s platoon sergeant. “It became more than just about the board. It became more about knowing the job.”

Dixon said in preparation for the board he studied at least two hours a night and whenever he had a free moment.

“He showed a lot of initiative, studying and getting himself ready,” Hearron said.

Dixon and Hearron both said that the effort put into the board manifested in the professionalism of the brigade’s S1 shop. Hearron said it made the shop more efficient and effective to have such a knowledgeable team member. Dixon said he used what he learned daily and that he highly encouraged others to continue to progress in the knowledge of their MOS.

“It helps you learn your job,” said Dixon of the event.

Because of his hard work and preparation, Dixon earned second place in the event.

“I will be back to win next time,” Dixon said.
