KABUL, Afghanistan – Sailors attached to Resolute Support Mission celebrated the Navy's 241st Birthday with a commemorative event in the Destille Garden here yesterday. More than 200 people from different service branches and various NATO countries attended the ceremony which featured Deputy Chief Staff – Security Assistance and Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan commanding general, Maj. Gen. Richard G. Kaiser as the Guest-of-Honor and Capt.(SEAL) Grant Staats as the guest speaker.
CSTC-A’s own Lt. j.g. Sam Colton was the evening's emcee and the U.S. Forces - Afghanistan Band from Bagram Air Field added some incredible Navy and patriotic music selections. The evening featured a video birthday message from the Chief of Naval Operations and motivational Navy video.
Joining Maj. Gen. Kaiser for the cake-cutting ceremony were the youngest and oldest Sailors present at Resolute Support, Petty Officer 3rd Class Brandon Cox and Cmdr. Kevin West.
