    4th Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade

The 12-man team, made up of culinary specialists from 4th Sustainment Brigade and 4th Engineer Battalion, placed second in the garrison kitchen category among all dining facilities at Fort Carson in the prestigious annual competition.
The Soldiers were personally awarded by Maj. Gen. Ryan F. Gonsalves, commanding general, 4th Infantry Division and Fort Carson. Gonsalves congratulated each member of the team and praised their hard work and dedication, stressing the importance of food service in the military.
During the presentation, Staff Sgt. Shavaar Cochran, advanced culinary noncommissioned officer, 32nd Composite Truck Company, 68th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 4th Sustainment Brigade, accepted the award on behalf of the team and was praised for his individual merits as the shift leader of the team.
“This is a true example of hard work and dedication paying off,” said Cochran. “Although, this was a team effort, if it wasn't for them this wouldn't be possible. Next year, we are gunning to take it all.”
It won’t be an easy task, but Cochran says they are very motivated and will focus more on preparation.
“The preparation is the hardest part of the competition, as we start preparing two months in advance,” he said. “Then, on the day of the competition, we come in at 4 a.m. and spend a great deal of time preparing the kitchen before the competition even starts.”
On the day of the Connelly Cup competition, April 4, 2016, the judges visited the Wolf DFAC and evaluated all aspects of the facility's operation, including food preparation, taste, nutrition, service and sanitation
“I am very proud of the team’s performance; it was their time to shine,” said Sgt. 1st Class Kenroy Anderson, assistant manager, Wolf DFAC. “The food service industry is a very repetitious job, so I am glad my Soldiers got a chance to break the monotony and show off their skills.”
